SHA Extends Provider Contracting Deadline to December 31, 2026

Healthcare providers contracted by the Social Health Authority now have until December 31, 2026 to complete new contracting requirements. The authority announced the extension on Thursday, October 15, moving the deadline from October 14, 2026.

The shift gives facilities slightly more than two months of additional time. Under the revised timeline, existing provider contracts covering the 2024 to 2026 period remain valid through the extension, and the next contracting cycle is scheduled to begin on January 1, 2027.

SHA Chief Executive Officer Mercy Mwangangi said the transition period for current contracts had been extended, according to a notice issued by the authority. Beneficiaries will continue to access services at facilities holding valid contracts for the duration of the extension, and claims that are validly submitted during the period will be honoured.

Providers have also been reminded that submitting all required documentation remains mandatory. The authority said an earlier moratorium on selected documents is no longer in effect, meaning facilities must now meet the full documentation requirements.

New contracts must be signed and take effect by December 31, 2026. SHA said providers needing clarification should contact their nearest county office or email the authority’s Contract Management department.

The authority added that it continues to offer support through its HAKIKA contracting clinics at county offices.

The extension applies to the transition period for existing contracts, which had been due to lapse on October 14. The revised deadline leaves providers just over two months to complete the process before the new cycle opens in January 2027.
