Woman arrested after drugs allegedly found in diaper bag in Augrabies.

A 27-year-old Northern Cape woman has been arrested in Augrabies after police allegedly found dagga and tik worth an estimated R1,800 concealed inside a diaper in her diaper bag.
The woman was arrested on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, following information received by Riemvasmaak police.
Police said she was travelling from Vredesvallei to Augrabies and was allegedly intending to buy drugs
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Molefi Shemane said the woman was travelling with a child when the information was received.
Shemane said Riemvasmaak police immediately shared the information with Augrabies SAPS as well as members from the two police stations.
Police intercepted the suspect while she was on her way to catch a taxi while carrying a diaper bag, which was subsequently searched by police.
“During the search, members discovered dagga and tik with an estimated street value of R1,800 concealed inside a diaper,” Shemane said.
Following the discovery, the woman was arrested and detained at Augrabies police station.
She is expected to appear in the Augrabies Magistrates’ Court soon on a charge of possession of drugs.
The arrest was welcomed by the ZF Mgcawu District Management, which praised the police officers involved for acting on the information and working together to remove drugs from the community.
The district management commended the members from Riemvasmaak and Augrabies SAPS for their “swift response, effective information sharing and collaborative efforts in removing illicit drugs from communities”.
Police also credited community members for providing information that assists law enforcement agencies in tackling drug-related crime.
“The police further appreciate the community for its continued cooperation and for providing valuable information that assists law enforcement agencies in combating the scourge of drugs,” Shemane said.
