Nigeria Flamingos Score Early Against Korea DPR As Adegbuyi Gives Nigeria 1-0 Lead In U17 World Cup

According to a report by Flashscore on Friday, October 23, 2026, Nigeria’s Flamingos made an impressive start to their final Group B encounter against Korea DPR at the ongoing FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, with Oluwakemi Adegbuyi scoring in the 15th minute to put Nigeria ahead.

The Nigerian youngster broke the deadlock early in the first half, giving her country a 1-0 advantage against the defending champions in a match that could determine the Flamingos’ qualification for the knockout stage.

Adegbuyi’s goal represents another important contribution from the forward, who has become one of Nigeria’s key attacking players during the competition.

The youngster previously found the back of the net during Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over Puerto Rico on Tuesday, October 20, helping the Flamingos recover from their disappointing opening defeat against Poland.

Her latest reported goal against Korea DPR continues her impressive goalscoring form and gives Nigeria an opportunity to challenge one of the tournament’s strongest teams.

Before Friday’s encounter, Korea DPR had established themselves as the dominant side in Group B after recording convincing victories in their opening two fixtures.

The Asian champions defeated Puerto Rico 6-0 before producing another outstanding attacking performance to overcome Poland 6-1.

Those victories left Korea DPR with six points and an impressive goal difference, making them favourites heading into their meeting with Nigeria.

However, the Flamingos entered the contest determined to secure the result needed to progress beyond the group stage.

Head coach Akeem Busari will be encouraged by his team’s ability to find an early breakthrough against opponents who had conceded just once in their previous two matches.

Nigeria’s early advantage could also influence the tactical approach of both teams, with Korea DPR expected to search for an equaliser while the Flamingos attempt to maintain their defensive organisation.

The Nigerian side will need to remain focused throughout the encounter, particularly against opponents who have demonstrated their ability to score multiple goals.

A victory or draw would guarantee Nigeria’s qualification for the Round of 16, making the early breakthrough particularly significant.

For Adegbuyi, another goal on the international stage would further underline her importance to the Flamingos’ campaign.

Although the reported 15th-minute goal gives Nigeria an encouraging advantage, the outcome of the encounter will depend on whether Busari’s players can maintain their performance against the defending champions.

The Flamingos will be hoping to build on their promising start and secure a result that keeps their World Cup ambitions alive.
