Trina Braxton’s Husband Von Scales Dies At 58

Trina Braxton is mourning the loss of her husband, Von Scales, who has died at 58. The sobering news was shared by Trina’s publicist David Robinson in an official statement.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Von Scales, beloved husband of Trina Braxton,” Robinson said. “The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers but is asking for privacy at this time as they navigate this unfortunate event.”

Scales’ cause of death is currently unknown, but he reportedly passed around 2 a.m. Thursday in Atlanta. Sources close to the family said he had been dealing with heart-related problems.

Scales and Braxton married in December 2019 after meeting through mutual friends. We got an up-close view of their relationship through their appearances on Braxton Family Values and The Braxtons.

“He’s just such a great conversationalist, and I just enjoyed talking to him,” Braxton said about their relationship in a 2019 interview with ESSENCE.

Over the years, the couple continued to share glimpses of their life together on social media. In December 2025, Braxton posted videos of the pair working out together, including footage of them using cardio equipment as part of a shared fitness journey.

His death marks another devastating loss for Braxton. Her sister, singer Traci Braxton, died in March 2022 at the age of 50 following a battle with esophageal cancer.

In addition, Braxton’s former husband, Gabriel “Gabe” Solis, died in 2018 at age 43. Braxton and Solis were married for more than a decade and shared two sons before his passing.

Braxton previously lauded Scales’ support as she grieved Solis’ death. In a 2019 interview with Entertainment Tonight, she said he “really helped me through it” and “stood right by me.”

As news of the entrepreneur’s death spread, fans took to social media to share condolences and remember him fondly. Scales maintained an active presence online.
