The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has called for stronger collaboration between the police, communities and sister security agencies to enhance intelligence-led policing across the state.
CP Aliyu made the call during his operational tour of the Misau and Azare Area Commands, where he emphasised community engagement and inter-agency cooperation as key to addressing contemporary security challenges.
He urged Divisional Police Officers to maintain regular interaction with residents in their areas of responsibility, stressing that effective intelligence gathering depends largely on public confidence and cooperation.
The Commissioner also called on the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Department of State Services (DSS), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), quasi-security outfits and community-based security structures to sustain cooperation with the police.
During the tour, the CP inspected police facilities and assessed the operational readiness of formations under the two Area Commands.
The Misau Area Command covers Misau, Giade, Darazo and Dambam Divisions, while the Azare Area Command comprises Azare, Gamawa, Itas, Yana, Zaki, Jama’are, Gadau and Bulkachuwa Divisions, in addition to the newly established Sakwa Division.
The Commissioner also visited the Emir of Misau, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ahmad Sulaiman, mni, at his palace and sought the traditional institution’s continued support for effective policing.
Responding, the Emir assured the Commissioner of his blessings and cooperation.
CP Aliyu further directed police personnel to maintain discipline and professionalism, warning against extortion, torture, over-detention and other human rights abuses.
He assured personnel that operational and welfare challenges identified during the tour would be addressed to enhance efficiency and morale.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property while urging stakeholders to support its security efforts.
