
Moroccan international Yassine Gessime scored twice to lead Strasbourg to their first Ligue 1 victory of the season, a 2-1 comeback win over visiting Lens on Saturday in the second round of the French league.
Lens took the lead in the 38th minute when Florian Thauvin converted a penalty.
Strasbourg responded strongly after the break, with Gessime leveling the score in the 48th minute before scoring again in the 85th to complete the comeback and secure all three points.
The victory was Strasbourg’s first under new coach Hugo Oliveira after the team opened its league campaign with a 4-0 defeat to Olympique de Marseille.
The result puts Strasbourg on three points after two games.
Lens also remain on three points after opening the season with a 5-2 victory over Auxerre.
Strasbourg will travel to Troyes on Sept. 6 for their third league match, while Lens will host Lorient next Saturday.
