Robotic cameras to help in detecting leaks and pollution in water network across Chennai

Chennai Metrowater has engaged Solinas Integrity Private Limited, an IIT-M-incubated start-up, to fast-track the identification of complaints; robots were previously deployed on a pilot basis in 2023Water pollution and leaks in ageing drinking water pipelines remain a concern in the city. To reduce water loss during distribution and detect leaks in the supply network, Chennai Metrowater has started using robotic equipment to assess the condition of the pipelines.
