What Fulham have been working on before facing Man Utd, Arbeloa also exposed a weakness

Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa spoke honestly about his side’s weaknesses ahead of facing Manchester United.

Manchester United are hoping to bounce back from defeat and head into the international break with a positive result against Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

Michael Carrick finds himself under pressure after losing back-to-back matches to Manchester City and Brighton, and now a winless Fulham side is United’s next opponent.

United fan confidence is dwindling, so Carrick needs a positive result to get the season back on track. Fulham boss Alvaro Arbeloa might have given him a helping hand by discussing his side’s training plans and weaknesses.

Alvaro Arbeloa exposes Fulham weakness to Man United

Arbeloa has endured a tough start as Fulham manager this season. The London outfit currently sit rock bottom of the Premier League table with just one point from their opening four matches.

In his pre-match press conference, Arbeloa revealed that Fulham have been doing extra defensive work to try and patch over some of their flaws.

As quoted by BBC Sport, Arbeloa explained that Fulham have been working on their defensive game after conceding “easy goals” against West Ham in their last match.

Arbeloa said: “It’s always more or less the same when we score a goal – maybe we are a little bit relaxing. I don’t know why but we need to improve and we need to work in this type of situation.”

Fulham clearly have an issue with concentration and focus after scoring a goal, and that is something that United can take advantage of if the ball does end up in the back of their net at Craven Cottage.

Man United have conceded just as much as Fulham

Arbeloa was clearly concerned about Fulham’s defensive record so far, but the table shows that they have conceded seven goals in four games.

That doesn’t include the three goals that United conceded in the 3-2 defeat to Brighton in the Carabao Cup, either.

United’s defensive concerns are clear to see. The only clean sheet kept so far was in the 4-0 win over Sabah in the Champions League.
