Spate of robberies at schools in western Jamaica, says Morris Dixon

KINGSTON, Jamaica—Minister of Education Senator Dr Dana Morris Dixon says there has been a spate of robberies at schools in western Jamaica, in particular at institutions that have been renovated following Hurricane Melissa.

“There’s also another situation we’ve had in terms of break-ins at schools in the west. We’re recovering, we’re putting new equipment in the schools and we’re having a slate of robberies,” said Morris Dixon on Wednesday at the post-Cabinet media briefing at Jamaica House.

“It’s absolutely crazy,” Morris Dixon added before informing that she has been in contact with Minister of National Security and Peace, Dr Horace Chang regarding the matter.

She said the security minister has indicated that he’s working with the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) to get to the bottom of the matter in the shortest possible time.

“I have to thank the JCF and the minister of National Security for their support because every time we call they do answer,” Morris Dixon said.
