Naa Badu Adiagba I urges Ghanaians to end stigma against breast cancer patients

Queen Mother of Abelemkpe and Dzorwulu, Naa Badu Adiagba I, has called on Ghanaians to stop stigmatizing people living with breast cancer and related infertility challenges.

According to the Queen Mother, stigma remains a major barrier that prevents some breast cancer patients from openly discussing their condition and seeking timely medical attention.

She urged families, friends and communities to provide emotional support and encouragement to breast cancer patients instead of making them feel ashamed or isolated because of their condition.

Naa Badu Adiagba I noted that when people are stigmatized, they may be reluctant to disclose their health challenges or seek medical assistance, which can make early detection and prevention more difficult.

She therefore appealed to Ghanaians to create a supportive environment where breast cancer patients can confidently access medical care and continue with their treatment without fear of discrimination.

The Queen Mother also encouraged breast cancer patients not to be discouraged by negative comments or opinions from others. She advised them to focus on their medical examinations, follow the advice of qualified health professionals and remain committed to their treatment.

She emphasized that compassion, education and community support are essential in the fight against breast cancer and urged everyone to play a role in reducing stigma surrounding the disease.
