HARARE, Aug. 28 (NewsDay Live) — Econet Wireless Zimbabwe has won the Best ICT Exhibitor and Best AI Adoption in Agriculture awards at the 2026 Zimbabwe Agricultural Show, recognising the telecommunications group’s growing use of digital technology and artificial intelligence across agriculture and other sectors.
The awards followed an integrated exhibition bringing together Econet’s telecommunications, fintech, insurance, agricultural technology and artificial intelligence businesses.
Featured brands included Econet AI, EcoCash, EcoSure, Moovah, EcoFarmerAI, Buddie, Buddie Beatz, Econet InfraCo, MARS and RemitHope.
A dedicated AI pod showcased Econet’s expanding artificial intelligence capabilities, including its partnership with Google Gemini, while EcoFarmerAI demonstrated how farmers can use digital tools and information to make better decisions and improve productivity.
The 2026 Zimbabwe Agricultural Show was held under the theme, “Powering Growth: Where Agriculture, Technology and Commerce Converge,” highlighting the growing role of technology in boosting agricultural productivity, improving financial inclusion and expanding market access.
The recognition comes as Econet accelerates the deployment of AI across its customer service, network management, business operations and product development.
The company is also expanding the technology’s application in agriculture, a key sector of Zimbabwe’s economy, as it seeks to help farmers access information and digital services that can improve decision-making and productivity.
Econet’s latest awards underscore the increasing convergence between telecommunications and agriculture, with mobile connectivity, financial technology and AI emerging as important tools in modernising farming and strengthening access to markets and services.
