ADDIS ABABA – MIDROC Investment Group signed a deal with CEMETC, or Cement and Mining Technology GmbH, to supply machinery for its planned gold processing plant in Metekel Zone, Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State.
Under the agreement, CEMETC will manufacture, install and supply machinery for a gold processing plant capable of processing 1.25 million tonnes of gold-bearing ore annually.
The Austria-headquartered industrial and mining equipment manufacturer is also expected to complete and deliver the equipment required for the MIDROC Metekel Gold Plant within one year.
“The agreement marks another step in MIDROC Investment Group’s efforts to expand industrial and mining investment and contribute to Ethiopia’s economic development,” the group said in a statement announcing the deal Saturday.
CEMETC specializes in industrial technology, with a particular focus on the cement and mining sectors. It also provides advanced technological solutions designed to improve factory operations, production monitoring and overall operational efficiency.
The technology and equipment are expected to support MIDROC Gold in establishing a more efficient production system, enhancing processing capacity and contributing to increased overall productivity, per the statement.
MIDROC Gold is one of the companies operating under MIDROC Investment Group and is among Ethiopia’s leading gold producers, contributing to the country’s mineral production and foreign-exchange earnings.
