'Apology rejected!' Jaymo Ule Msee's comeback plea dismissed by Kenyans

Transitioning from the screen to his personal reality, Jaymo confessed that his political pursuits and decisions took a heavy toll on his finances, even asking Kenyans to band together and help dig him out of his self-engineered misery.

Popular Kenyan content creator Wilson Muirani Gathoni, widely known as Jaymo Ule Msee, has encountered continued opposition from a still-angry Kenyan populace after releasing a public statement addressing his past political stances, apologising to Generation Z, and opening up about his severe financial struggles.

In an emotional statement shared on his Facebook page, Jaymo reflected on his tumultuous journey, admitting that he strayed from the path that originally endeared him to his audience.

"I lost my way. Somewhere between the opinions, arguments, ego and political hallucinations, I lost touch with the creator you welcomed into your lives. The Jaymo whose videos you watched on a crowded matatu. The one you tagged your friends in..." he wrote.

Jaymo specifically addressed his controversial remarks from June 25, 2025, noting that he failed to respect the concerns of young Kenyans, while also admitting that he was wrong.

"To Gen Z: I sincerely apologise for my insensitive remarks on 25 June 2025. I failed to give your pain and concerns the respect they deserved. I should have listened. I was wrong."

The veteran comedian also extended his apologies to everyone hurt by his political content, taking ownership of his actions: "To everyone I hurt through my political videos: I am sorry. You deserved more care from me. I own my words and choices. Forgiveness is yours to give in your own time; changing my behaviour is my responsibility."

Transitioning from the screen to his personal reality, Jaymo confessed that his political pursuits and decisions took a heavy toll on his finances, even asking Kenyans to band together and help dig him out of his self-engineered misery.

"Today, I am super broke. My political choices and financial mistakes have cost me deeply. I cannot blame politics for everything when I made decisions too...I have been living in that silence," he confessed.

But despite his candid admission and appeal for support, the reception from Kenyans and Gen Z online has been largely cold and dismissive.

Netizens have largely and flatly rejected the apology, criticising the timing of the confession and stating they will not contribute any financial assistance to his cause.

Social media reactions reflected lingering frustration over his past political positioning, noting his uncomfortable cozying with the Ruto administration, with other users flooding comment sections to mock the plea and lampoon the pleadings.

Critics made it clear that trust cannot be easily bought or mended with a request for funds, signaling that young Kenyans are choosing to move forward without him - or his outmoded brand of comedy.

One Kenyan wrote, ""The audacity to insult Gen Z during the protests, ride the political wave when it was convenient, and then drop an M-Pesa till number when the coffers run dry? We are not funding your political hangover, Jaymo. Choices have consequences."

Someone else said, "You really thought an emotional Facebook post would erase June 25th? You stood with the oppressors when young people were on the streets, now you want the same youth to bail you out of poverty. Keep that same energy you had back then."

Yet another unimpressed Kenyan wrote: "Apology rejected. You didn't 'lose your way', you sold your soul for political crumbs and now that the table is cleared, you remember the audience that made you? Earn our trust back through work, not crowd-funding."

In an attempt to pull himself up and restore his lost creative glory, Jaymo has now announced a 20-episode video mini-series of his lessons on 'money, ego, influence and forgetting your own calling.'

"Expect drama, ridiculous situations, uncomfortable truths and the humour we find while trying to survive ourselves. Stories about what happens after the smile, after the applause, after you press 'stop recording.'", he wrote.
