Bryan Mbeumo and three of his Man Utd teammates must become ‘more clinical’ now, claims Rio Ferdinand

Rio Ferdinand picked out Bryan Mbeumo from a Manchester United quartet who must show a more ruthless side to their finishing in the final third this season.
Bryan Mbeumo delivered for Manchester United against Leeds United in the attacking set-up after the Cameroon international broke the deadlock on Sunday.
However, the 27-year-old former Brentford ace was wasteful with other chances in the final third, including an unmarked first-half header that failed to hit the target.
Youri Tielemans floated a superb cross into the box before Man Utd’s opener against Leeds United and Mbeumo fired his head wide in Sunday’s Premier League clash.

Michael Carrick’s men took control of the Premier League clash after Youri Tielemans’ low cross from the right was converted by Bryan Mbeumo’s sliding finish. Manchester United took a 1-0 lead into half-time after Mbeumo’s strike in the 35th minute, but Leeds United fought back at Elland Road.
Leeds found the all-important equaliser only six minutes into the second half after Dominic Calvert-Lewin converted past Senne Lammens. Speaking on his podcast, Rio Ferdinand turned his head towards Mbeumo and admitted that the France-born forward could have scored more at the weekend.
However, United legend Ferdinand insisted that Mbeumo was not alone in lacking the end product at Elland Road and singled out Matheus Cunha, Amad Diallo and Bruno Fernandes alongside him.
“And you know what as well? To add to that, we’ve got to become more clinical at finishing our chances,” he said on Rio Ferdinand Presents.
“And Mbeumo today, yes, gets the goal, but could have had a couple more. Cunha, when he comes on, I want to see more opportunities to take chances.”
Ferdinand added: “I want to see Amad be more clinical. Obviously, Bruno, he wants to get more clinical again this season after what he’s done in previous seasons. That’s put to bed now.
“Let’s go again this season. So, we need that clinical spirit within the team, that decisiveness to come back into this team. Because if we do that, we’re getting chances.
“We saw it again in midweek. We had chances against Atletico [Madrid in the Champions League]. We just aren’t clinical enough right now.”
United manager Carrick deployed Mbeumo as the lone forward in Sunday’s 1-1 draw after striker Benjamin Sesko remained sidelined with an injury. Amad Diallo and Bruno Fernandes started in the United attack against Leeds Utd as well, while Matheus Cunha climbed off the bench in the second half.
