2027: Enugu Needs Leader, Not Boss — Group
Enugu natives resident in Abuja, under the aegis of NDC Enugu State Abuja Base Supporters for Chinyeaka Ohaa, have endorsed Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa as their preferred candidate for the 2027 Enugu State governorship election.
The group made its position known when its members visited Ohaa at his Abuja residence yesterday to declare their support for his governorship ambition.
The coordinator of the group, Chukwubuikem Ifeanyi, said Enugu natives in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) were concerned about developments in the state and had resolved to support what he described as a “rescue mission.”
Ifeanyi said the group was seeking a leadership that would prioritise the welfare of the people, adding that it considered Ohaa capable of providing such leadership based on his record in the civil service.
He identified taxation, insecurity and youth unemployment as issues of concern to the group. He also criticised the alleged use of young people for political activities without corresponding opportunities for empowerment and development.
“The Lion Building belongs to all of us. We will decide who leads us. What Enugu needs now is a leader, not a boss. A servant leader who will transform lives, not punish the people,” he said.
Ifeanyi said the group would extend its mobilisation efforts to Enugu communities across the FCT to rally support for Ohaa’s ambition.
Responding, Ohaa thanked the group for its support, saying he was encouraged by the enthusiasm of young Enugu indigenes in Abuja.
He pledged to bring the values of honesty, discipline and performance that characterised his public service to governance if elected.
“I have embraced evolved ideas. You will see an evolved Enugu State under my administration,” Ohaa said.
He identified human development as a major priority, with emphasis on youth empowerment, job creation, skills development and security.
The group also pledged to mobilise Enugu indigenes in the FCT to participate actively in the political process, while calling for fair play and inclusive governance ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
