The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has no intention of dissolving the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following a meeting with the Associations leadership over the recent crisis surrounding the Black Stars.Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams met GFA President Kurt Okraku and members of the GFA Executive Committee on Friday at the Ministry in Accra. The meeting lasted more than two hours and focused on the state of Ghana football following the Black Stars disappointing start to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.Ghana lost 2-0 to Cte dIvoire in Bouak before suffering a 4-2 home defeat to The Gambia, leaving the Black Stars without a point from their opening two Group C matches. The poor results have triggered calls from sections of the public and football stakeholders for major changes within the GFA, including demands for the Association to be dissolved. However, the Sports Ministry has no plans to pursue that option, with Fridays meeting instead focused on finding a way forward for the national team and Ghana football. As part of the next steps, three government representatives will serve on a technical search committee tasked with identifying candidates for the vacant Black Stars head coach position. The committee will therefore bring together representatives from government and the football administration as the search begins for Carlos Queirozs replacement.Queiroz and the GFA mutually agreed to terminate his contract on Thursday, October 1, following the Black Stars poor start to the AFCON 2027 qualifiers. The latest meeting signals continued collaboration between the Sports Ministry and the GFA despite growing pressure for changes to the management of Ghana football. The governments position is also consistent with Adams earlier comments that the government does not have the power to simply dissolve the GFA, which is an independently registered football association.
