Greater Accra Regional Security Council (REGSEC) Receives Training on Security and Intelligence Agencies Act, 2026

The National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) has organised a training programme on the Security and Intelligence Agencies Act, 2026 (Act 1168), for members of the Greater Accra Regional Security Council (REGSEC) to strengthen regional security coordination and enhance institutional capacity.

The training aims to strengthen the capacity of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives in Accra, improve inter-agency coordination and enhance the effective implementation of the new legal framework governing security and intelligence operations.

Speaking at the training, the Minister for the Interior, who also oversees National Security, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, underscored the importance of understanding the roles and responsibilities of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies, as well as Regional Security Councils, under the new Act.

He emphasised the need for effective coordination among relevant institutions to ensure timely responses to security concerns and promote stability within communities.

Hon. Muntaka urged the Metropolitan and District Chief Executives to strengthen collaboration with security agencies at the regional and district level to facilitate the early identification of emerging tensions and potential threats to peace and security.

The training forms part of ongoing efforts by the National Security Council Secretariat, under the Ghana National Security Reform Programme, to deepen understanding of the Security and Intelligence Agencies Act, 2026 (Act 1168) and enhance cooperation between security institutions and other relevant state actors in safeguarding Ghana’s peace, security and stability.
