FC Samartex and Head Coach Nana Kweku Agyemang Charged by GFA After Medeama Clash

FC Samartex 1996 and their head coach, Nana Kweku Agyemang, have been charged by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following their Ghana Premier League match against Medeama SC.

The charges relate to alleged misconduct by supporters of FC Samartex and the conduct of the club’s head coach during the game. The GFA has given both the club and the coach until Monday, October 26, 2026, to respond to their respective charges.

According to the charge details, FC Samartex 1996 is alleged to have breached Article 16(2)(b) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019. The allegation centres on claims that some of the club’s supporters threw water bottles towards match officials during and after the encounter with Medeama SC.

The incident reportedly caused a temporary stoppage of play, raising concerns about the conduct of spectators and the safety of match officials during the league fixture.

Football authorities expect clubs to ensure that their supporters behave appropriately at matches. Incidents involving objects being thrown onto the pitch or towards officials can disrupt games and may lead to disciplinary action if the allegations are established.

Meanwhile, head coach Nana Kweku Agyemang has been charged under Article 12(1)(i) of the same disciplinary code. He is alleged to have verbally abused the match officials during the encounter.

The charge against the coach is separate from the one involving the club and its supporters. Both matters will be considered in accordance with the GFA’s disciplinary procedures.

FC Samartex 1996 and Agyemang now have an opportunity to present their responses before the association determines the next steps. Their submissions are expected to address the allegations outlined in the charges.

The deadline of Monday, October 26, gives the club and the coach a limited period to respond to the football governing body. Any further disciplinary action will depend on the process and the outcome of the cases.

The development comes as Ghanaian football authorities continue to enforce disciplinary regulations aimed at maintaining order and respect for match officials during domestic competitions.

However, the charges remain allegations at this stage, and no final decision has been announced in the information provided. FC Samartex 1996 and Nana Kweku Agyemang will have the opportunity to respond before any determination is made.
