Former Jigawa State Governor and founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sule Lamido, has cautioned Nigerians against voting for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 general elections, describing past support for the party as a costly mistake.
Speaking at the inauguration of the PDP Campaign Council in Dutse, Jigawa State, Lamido urged citizens to critically evaluate the performance of PDP administrations compared to the current APC-led government.
He expressed confidence that Nigerians had learned from past experiences and would make better choices in 2027.
Lamido accused the APC of failing to meet public expectations, citing setbacks in healthcare, education, and other critical sectors.
“Today, Jigawa is facing serious challenges in accessing quality healthcare. Hospitals lack adequate medical services and essential drugs, while the education sector continues to deteriorate,” he said.
He described the PDP as the most enduring political force in Nigeria’s history, noting that many leaders began their careers under the party.
“Since 1999, almost all political parties have collapsed, leaving the PDP as the only surviving party to date. It has seen yesterday, today and, by the grace of God, it will see tomorrow,” Lamido declared.
Assuring supporters of peaceful and issue-based campaigns, Lamido emphasized that the PDP’s mission was to restore good governance and rebuild public confidence in leadership.
He pledged that the party would vigorously campaign for its candidates at all levels, including the presidency, National Assembly, and state legislatures.
