Ineos have an interesting transfer record on Deadline Day since taking over at Manchester United.
Manchester United are set to complete a third summer transfer window under Ineos. The jury is still out on whether this one is a success.
The last two transfer windows in 2024 and 2025 have seen Manchester United sign three players, with very contrasting outcomes.
Here is a look back at Ineos’ trio of Deadline Day signings…

Manchester United made two permanent moves on Deadline Day 2024. One of these deals was to sign youth prospect Sekou Kone.
Kone has yet to make a first team appearance for the club in two seasons.
The Mali youth international midfielder is currently on loan at Ineos partner club Lausanne, for the second time. He has had an impressive start to the season there.
The jury is still out on whether this move was a success. It was a low-risk gamble that we wouldn’t mind seeing Ineos make more regularly.

After a long summer of negotiations, Manchester United finally agreed a fee with Paris Saint-Germain to sign Manuel Ugarte.
Ugarte was supposed to be the successor to Casemiro, however, the Uruguayan was unable to dislodge him from the line-up.
Unfortunately this £42 million transfer is Ineos’s biggest bust since taking over at Manchester United. It just hasn’t worked out.
Even the appointment of Ugarte’s former manager at Sporting did not work out, with Ruben Amorim regularly benching him.
Ugarte tore his ACL at the World Cup and is now a forgotten man at the club, with three new midfield signings made in 2026.

Manchester United’s only Deadline Day signing in 2025 was a huge success.
Entering the final day, there were two rumours, with a goalkeeper signing required. Manchester United could sign experienced stopper Emiliano Martinez, or unknown option Senne Lammens.
Ineos trusted their scouting department and struck a deal with Royal Antwerp to sign Lammens for £18 million.
The move paid off from the moment Lammens made his debut a month later, with the goalkeeper fully earning his status as first choice goalkeeper.
The deal for Lammens is an example of what can be done at Manchester United, landing a top talent on the rise for a bargain price.
