The governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Ebonyi State in next year’s general election, Chief Splendor Oko Eze, has urged the newly elected council chairmen in the state to reduce poverty and under-development in the local governments.
He said the duty of the new chairmen is not to work for the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election, but to tackle the numerous challenges confronting the local government system in the state.
“You must concentrate on working for the people at the LGA level. Your duty is not to work for the re-election of APC candidates in the forthcoming general election, but to make sure that the level of poverty and under development in our respective LGAs is reduced via construction of our rural roads, improved community healthcare system, enhanced community security, improved productivity in the agricultural sector etc.
“You must invest more in the rehabilitation of our community schools for improved education, invest in mechanised agriculture by the procurement of tractors and other agricultural equipment to improve our productivity.
“Assist the state government in providing the desired democratic dividends to our people. You were sworn into the office to serve the people, not to lord yourself over the people”, Eze said.
