Hilton eyes further opportunities

MBABANE- Hilton Group Vice President of Operations for Sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian Ocean Victor Chalfoun says the company is exploring further opportunities in Eswatini as it seeks to build on its existing partnership with PSPF.

Speaking during the UAE Leadership Cocktail Dinner at Hilton Garden Inn in Mbabane yesterday, Chalfoun said Hilton viewed Eswatini as an important part of its presence in Sub-Saharan Africa.

He said the Hilton Garden Inn had allowed the group to contribute to the country’s hospitality and tourism landscape, while creating jobs and developing skills among emaSwati.

“Hospitality is ultimately a people business. It creates jobs, develops skills, builds careers and, importantly, gives talented young people the opportunity to grow,” Chalfoun said.

He said Hilton valued its relationship with PSPF and was excited about exploring further opportunities with the institution.

“We deeply value this partnership, and we are excited to be exploring further opportunities together as we look to build on what we have already achieved in Eswatini,” he said.

Tourism and Environmental Affairs Minister Jane Simelane said the growing tourism sector was creating increased demand for quality accommodation and hospitality services.

She said improved air connectivity, tourism attractions, cultural events, music festivals, gaming and business conferences were contributing to Eswatini’s positioning as a tourism destination.

Simelane also highlighted the role of technology in promoting the country, following the World Tourism Day theme, “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism”.

She said Eswatini could use digital platforms and new technologies to showcase its culture, heritage, landscapes and hospitality to a more connected global audience.

“Your investments create jobs, stimulate local businesses and strengthen Eswatini’s position on the global tourism map,” Simelane said.

She thanked Hilton Garden Inn, investors and tourism partners for their continued confidence in Eswatini and said government remained committed to creating an environment that supports investment, innovation and sustainable tourism development.
