The Department of Employment and Labour is hiring with some vacancies closing today
More than 50 jobs are looking to be filled.
AI summary
In an ironic, but no doubt welcome, bit of news today, the Department of Employment and Labour is itself looking to employ people.
Earlier today, the department shared a link to its list of open vacancies, which you can find by clicking or tapping here.
This new lot of jobs, according to a social media post, all close their application windows on 6th November, but a handful of older openings actually close today – 30th October.
We’ve summarised the list of jobs, both closing now and later, into the table below for easy viewing. You can also click or tap the names of the positions to be taken directly to the job postings.
We have maintained, for the sake of accuracy, an oddity in the way the government has provided the information: some jobs which have multiple openings are indicating that fact in the position name, while others show it in the reference code.
We’re not sure why this has been done but, counting both of these approaches, there are 55 positions available by our count.
A big contributor to this is the fact that there are 16 open positions, all for the same role of “Assistant Director: Labour Centre Operations (UIF). Given that one in three adults are unemployed in South Africa, the requirement for many people working on the Unemployment Insurance Fund makes a bit more sense.
Lastly, we want to mention that the Department’s website is rather slow right now, with some of the pages takes ages to load or simply resulting in an error. Give it some time and return to the links later.
