Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has disclosed that he held meetings with British government officials and Nigerians in the diaspora during a visit to London.
Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, said the discussions focused on rebuilding Nigeria by tackling bad leadership, corruption, and lack of accountability, which he described as major obstacles to national development.
In a post on his X handle, Obi explained that he arrived in London from Basel, Switzerland, on Wednesday, October 21, and engaged with stakeholders throughout the day.
He rounded off with a meeting organised by COPDEM’s chief and the NDC Director of Diaspora Affairs.
According to him, the conversations centred on the collective responsibility of Nigerians to free the country from poor leadership and ensure access to basic necessities such as healthcare, education, and employment.
“We must build a Nigeria where the child of nobody can become somebody without knowing anybody,” Obi said, stressing that the country must work for all citizens rather than a privileged few.
He added that Nigerians deserve a nation where hard work is rewarded, opportunities are equal, and every life matters.
