**KIGOMA: **A total of 28 migrants from Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have been arrested in Kigoma Region during a patrol and crackdown operation conducted on the night of September 3, 2026.
Some of the migrants were arrested while engaged in agricultural activities, while others were apprehended at bus stations as they travelled to different parts of the country.
Kigoma Regional Deputy Immigration Officer, ACI Jeremiah Mwakibinga, said the migrants will be taken to court to face allegations of entering Tanzania without valid permits.

He said the arrests are part of efforts to enforce immigration laws and control the entry and residence of foreigners without valid permits in the country.
The Kigoma Special Zone Immigration Office said it will continue conducting patrols and operations across the region to strengthen national security and ensure compliance with immigration laws.
