Just After Sifuna Unveiled His New Party, Orengo Sets Record Straight on Leaving Linda Mwananchi
Siaya Governor James Orengo has clarified that he has not left the Linda Mwananchi movement, despite his absence from recent political activities linked to the group.
Orengo’s clarification comes on Sunday, October 4, as the movement continues to reorganise its political plans ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The governor has been associated with the movement alongside several opposition leaders, including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.
His absence from some of the movement’s recent events had raised questions about whether he was still part of the political outfit.
However, Orengo has now confirmed that he remains part of Linda Mwananchi, putting to rest speculation about his position.
The clarification comes on the same day Sifuna was unveiled under The Equitable Party (TEP), which is being used as his political vehicle ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.
The new political arrangement has placed Sifuna at the centre of a growing political movement that is seeking to unite leaders and supporters ahead of the next election.
Babu Owino has also continued to associate himself with the political project. During Sunday’s event, he challenged those seeking to take State House to work harder than President William Ruto.
“If we must go to State House, we must work 10 times harder than William Ruto,” Babu said.
Orengo’s clarification is therefore coming at a time when questions about unity within Linda Mwananchi have been growing.
The movement has attracted several leaders, but its leaders will now have to maintain unity as they prepare their grassroots structures and wider political plans.
Orengo remains an important figure in the opposition space, having served in senior government and political positions for many years.
His decision to confirm that he has not left the movement could help calm questions surrounding its leadership and direction.
As the 2027 election draws closer, attention will now turn to how Orengo, Sifuna, Babu and other leaders will work together under the broader Linda Mwananchi political project.
Do you think Orengo’s continued presence will strengthen Linda Mwananchi ahead of 2027?
