The largest was at Teshie on October 22, where 102 suspects were arrested, 93 men and nine women. Officers recovered compressed dried substances suspected to be narcotics, seven bottles of nitrous oxide and a bottle of Benylin with codeine.
Eight of the suspects, described as key narcotics peddlers, were handed to the Drug Law Enforcement Unit for further investigation.
At Lapaz and Chantan on October 15, police arrested 41 suspects, 35 men and six women. They recovered dried leaves suspected to be narcotics, which are being kept for evidence and forensic testing.
At Okaishie Drug Lane on October 9, eight suspects were arrested. Police recovered suspected narcotics and unregulated pharmaceutical products, among them Tramadol, Rohypnol and products containing codeine.
Operations at New Town, Dansoman, Weija, Tudu, James Town and Odawna led to more arrests and the recovery of suspected narcotics, pharmaceutical products, processing equipment and other items.
At Odawna, police arrested a 52-year-old businessman, Richard Polo, after surveillance, and say they found substances suspected to be cocaine and other narcotics at his hideout.
On October 28 and 29, the team carried out operations at Fadama and Shukura and arrested two suspects, Douglas Kobby, 47, and Habib Yakubu. Police recovered four parcels of dried leaves suspected to be narcotics, seven cartridges, a pump-action magazine, a dagger and a machete.
In a separate operation at Alabonu in Asutuare, three suspected members of a vigilante group were arrested and handed to the Tema Regional Police Command for further investigation.
The team also arrested four suspects in the Eastern Region and recovered a pump-action shotgun, ammunition, and substances suspected to be Indian hemp and Tramadol.
All the suspects are in police custody and are helping with investigations. The police say they are still trying to identify others who may be linked to the suspected criminal activity.
