FIFA President Gianni Infantino has praised Ghana's efforts to develop football at the grassroots level and improve infrastructure following a meeting with Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku in Zurich.
The meeting at the Home of FIFA on Tuesday focused on football development and opportunities for closer collaboration between FIFA and the GFA.
Infantino, in a post on his official Instagram account, said the discussions centred on football development talks and building a stronger foundation for the sport in Ghana.
He also commended the GFA's focus on grassroots and infrastructure development, saying the initiatives have contributed to positive progress in Ghanaian football.
President Okraku and his team understand the importance of grassroots and infrastructure development, and their work has helped Ghana take positive strides, Infantino said.
The FIFA president pointed to Ghana's qualification for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, which begins this weekend, and the country's qualification for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup next month as evidence of the progress being made.
Infantino also thanked the GFA for its continued support and dedication to football development.
Following our productive meeting, I thanked everyone at the Ghana Football Association for their continued support and dedication to ensuring football remains a beacon of hope for everyone with a football dream in Ghana, he added.
Okraku, who also serves as CAF's second vice-president, continues to engage FIFA on opportunities to strengthen football development across the country.
