I am over 40 and sexy, should I leave my aging hubby?

Dear BMW,

My husband and I are both in our early 40s. We have a good marriage, four wonderful kids, and a comfortable life. He works hard, and I run a fruit‑import business that lets me travel often — which I enjoy.

When we married, we were the “it couple”; athletic, confident, and admired. But now, KK is aging faster than me. His hairline is receding , his hair is grey, and he has lost his physique. He looks pale, tired, and frankly, unappealing. Meanwhile, I have invested in myself. I go to the gym daily, eat well, and dress stylishly. I feel vibrant, youthful, and yes, sexy. I turn heads when I walk down the street.

The problem is, I feel embarrassed going out with him. He looks like my garden boy, not my partner. I’ve encouraged him to join me at the gym, but he insists he’s fine with walks and annual doctor check‑ups. He is a loving husband and father, but I feel frustrated and resentful watching him fade while I thrive.

BMW, should I leave him?

Dear Thick Wife,

Let me start by saying: yes, women in their 30s and 40s today often look sharper than those in their 20s. You’ve worked hard to keep yourself fit, and that deserves credit. But don’t let the “I’m 40 and sexy” mantra blind you. Time is undefeated — knees wobble, backs pop, and beauty fades.

I once saw a 50‑year‑old friend challenge a young man to lift 120kg. His shoulder buckled, and he left the gym in agony. Another middle‑aged woman outperformed 20‑somethings in yoga, but when she tried to stand up, her back gave way, and she was carried out in an ambulance.

So yes, enjoy the whistles and catcalls while they last. But remember: your husband is the man who has walked with you through life, raised four children with you, and still loves you deeply. To dismiss him as a “burden” because of his looks is shallow.

Believe me, one day your curves will soften, and the catcalls will stop. But KK will still be there; steady, loyal, and yours. Don’t throw away a lifetime of love for fleeting vanity.

Osamapanga chibwana!
