AI summary
About 120 students from five states converged at the National Assembly in Abuja from Thursday to deliberate on international security, economic development, social justice and other global challenges.
At the second edition of the Nigerian Tulip International Colleges Model United Nations Conference (NTICMUN) 2026, students from Kano, Kaduna, Yobe, Abuja and Lagos engaged in discussions on diplomacy, international relations, leadership and global affairs.
The three-day conference which began on Thursday is being organised by (NTIC) in collaboration with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagement.
The programme featured three committees: the Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC), the Economic and Financial Committee (ECOFIN), and the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM).
The committees are expected to deliberate on issues relating to international security, economic development, social justice, humanitarian concerns and cultural cooperation.
The partnership with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagement is also aimed at encouraging young people to participate in discussions on governance, national development and issues affecting their generation.
Beyond the diplomatic sessions, the conference featured Cultural Night and Talent Hunt, where students had the opportunity to showcase their talents, celebrate Nigeria’s cultural diversity and interact with peers from different parts of the country.
The second edition, scheduled to end today, follows the inaugural conference and forms part of NTIC’s efforts to promote academic excellence, character development and leadership skills among young people.
The organisers said the initiative was designed to nurture students who are globally aware, socially responsible and equipped to contribute meaningfully to society.
