God remembers in the ember months, by Funmi Komolafe

Gradually, we are coming to the end of the year, my prayer is that the LORD keeps us beyond this year and gives us the grace to end the year joyfully in Jesus name.
Brethren, the reality is that we have only a few months to go in 2026. The past eight months have been quite eventful.
In these Ember months, do you still find yourself helpless concerning a particular issue? You may be helpless because you are limited as a human being but there is GOD that is the helper of the helpless.
That God is available to attend to your needs. Your relationship with Him should give you hope even when everything around you seems to be contrary to your expectation.
The last thing a Christian should do is give up on himself or herself. When you do that, your Christian credentials becomes questionable. It means that your faith is at the peripheral level. It isn’t deep enough to trust the LORD.
Apostle Paul and his friend had an experience of helplessness while travelling in a ship.
Acts 27 vs. 18-20 (NIV) tells the story. “ We took such a violent battering from the storm that the next day they began to throw the cargo overboard.
On the third day, they threw the ship’s tackle overboard with their own hands.
When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days and the storm continued raging, we finally gave up all hope of being saved.”
This according to the Bible happened to them because they failed to listen to the pieces of advice given to them by Apostle Paul.
When they lost hope of survival, Apostle Paul said to them in verses 21 -24:
“ …. Men you should have taken my advice not to sail from Crete; then you would have spared yourselves this damage and loss.
But I urge you to keep up your courage, because not one of you will be lost; only the ship will be destroyed.
Last night an angel of the God whose I am and whom I serve stood beside me and said, Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.
So keep your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me”.
Brethren, Paul’s friends took the wrong advice and got into trouble. They became helpless and almost perished but the merciful God remembered them and gave hope that they would not perish.
I may not know what challenge you are passing through but in your own interest, do not give up. When you give up on God, you give in to the devil and you may never testify.
With the ember months, you may be saying to yourself, this year is gone again and I am not married let alone think of being a mother or a father.
Or are you saying, promotion has again eluded me this year? Perhaps what is important to you is starting a new project but nothing seems to be happening.
For someone else it could be would I survive this health challenge? These and other similar circumstances could make one helpless but one can still be hopeful even in the state of helplessness.
1st Peter 5 vs. 5 and 6 tells us: “ Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you”.
Brethren, to receive a miracle you first need to humble yourself with total submission to God and obedience to his commands. Simply put, keep sins out of your life and establish a relationship with God.
God created every one of us but it is not all of us that have a relationship with Him.
Most of us turn to God when we find ourselves helpless but that isn’t the way to go. Even when you have achieved, you still need to give glory to God that made it possible.
Once you become helpless, a situation where no one can help you and you cannot help yourself, you need to place you worries before the LORD JESUS.
The Bibles tells us “ he cares for you”. Since he cares for you, you need to find out what his word says about that situation, and then you begin to call on him to step into the situation for you.
When we pray along this line, we are simply saying, “ O God remember me”.
Job 8 vs. 5-7: “ But if you will look to God and plead with the Almighty, if you are pure and upright, even now he will rouse himself on your behalf and restore you to your rightful place.
Your beginnings will seem humble, so prosperous will your future be”.
In other words, those issues that are your worries now, would soon become issues that you would have to celebrate.
The ember months are the months that many people give up but Beloved, the ember months are the months that God remembers anyone that has been crying to him for help.
Whatever it is, brethren, keep hope alive.
Beloved, when you seem helpless, many would mock you but if you have hope in the LORD that would give you strength to overcome mockers.
During the September Holy Ghost night, Pastor Jide Akiode an assistant general overseer, while preaching, told the story of how he has been dedicating babies of members but he didn’t have a child.
This challenge didn’t stop him from serving the LORD. He served like Zachariah and God came forth for him.
Pastor Akiode told the story of how he was on a mission assignment and a lady that hosted him and others asked him what clothes she should buy for his children.
According to him, “ as at that time I had no children”.
The man that was considered barren told him to get the clothes for a boy and a girl.
He said, he received the gift and showed it to his wife when he returned home.
“We kept it somewhere. Those things, when our children arrived, they used it.
The Pastor said he was called barren for 19 years and four months.
He received the clothes because he remained hopeful with the word of the Lord in Deuteronomy 7 vs. 14 ( KJV) : “ Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle”.
Since he remained hopeful God visited him with a set of twins. A boy and a girl.
If the Pastor had told the person that gave him a gift to buy clothes for a boy or a girl only, that is most likely what God would have given him but he asked with faith for two and God gave him a set of twins.
Beloved when it seems hope is lost that is when the God of wonders steps into a situation.
Be hopeful, God will remember you these ember months in Jesus name.
