“I Don’t Care About Foreigners Who Commit Crimes” Malema’s Blunt Message Rocks Mzansi

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has reiterated his firm position on foreign nationals who commit crimes in South Africa, stressing that anyone who breaks the law must face the consequences, regardless of their nationality.

Malema’s remarks reflect the EFF’s long-standing position that criminal offences should be handled through the country’s justice system, with accountability determined by individual actions rather than immigration status.

The EFF leader has frequently addressed issues surrounding immigration, crime and the treatment of foreign nationals. While opposing xenophobia and the collective blaming of immigrants for South Africa’s problems, he has maintained that foreign nationals who commit crimes should not be exempt from prosecution.

His latest comments reinforce the distinction between immigrants who respect South African laws and those who are accused of violating them. The statement, “I don’t care about a foreigner who commits crime,” highlights his uncompromising approach to criminal accountability.

South Africa continues to face challenges involving violent crime, illegal immigration, unemployment and growing pressure on public services. These issues have fuelled heated political debates about border security, immigration enforcement and the role of foreign nationals in the country.

Political parties have expressed differing views on how these challenges should be addressed. Some advocate stricter border controls and tougher immigration enforcement, while others warn that such debates must not encourage xenophobia or discrimination against entire migrant communities.

The EFF has positioned itself against xenophobic attacks while arguing that the law should be applied consistently to everyone. Malema’s position forms part of the wider discussion about balancing public safety, immigration management and the constitutional rights of people living in South Africa.

However, being accused of a crime does not automatically mean that a person is guilty. Under South African law, everyone accused of an offence is entitled to due process and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Foreign nationals convicted of criminal offences may face the penalties prescribed by law. Depending on the offence and applicable immigration legislation, a conviction could also affect their right to remain in the country.

At the same time, responsibility for criminal behaviour rests with the individuals involved. The actions of particular offenders should not be used to label an entire nationality or immigrant community as criminal.

Malema’s remarks are likely to keep the immigration debate in the spotlight as South Africa approaches its local government elections. His comments also renew questions about the government’s responsibility to enforce the law, strengthen border security and protect the constitutional rights of everyone within the country’s jurisdiction.

Ultimately, the debate centres on equal application of the law, individual accountability and the importance of addressing crime without promoting prejudice against foreign nationals.
