Papama fires Township Rollers to victory

Namibian footballer Marcel Papama delivered a standout performance for Township Rollers over the weekend, scoring twice as the club secured a convincing 3-0 victory.

Papama, who captains the Botswana-based side, was instrumental in the win and was subsequently named Player of the Match for his impressive display.

Speaking after the match, Papama expressed his satisfaction with both the team’s result and his individual contribution, while highlighting the unity within the squad.

“It was a good weekend, and I’m happy about the results, firstly, and also about my performance.

“We are a hungry group with one goal. We play for each other, we trust each other and we are family. This win comes from togetherness. We play with fearless hearts and without pressure.

“This award belongs to every Township Rollers player. To our supporters, we love you. You have been there for us. Keep supporting these boys and let’s see what happens in May 2027.

“We are not here to participate. We are here to compete. God bless you all. No noise. No shortcuts. Just work. We work again for the next game.”

The victory keeps Township Rollers in contention early in the campaign, with Sua Flamingoes currently leading the standings on eight points from four matches. Police XI are second with seven points from three matches, while Gunners are third with six points from three matches.

Township Rollers are currently sixth with four points from two matches, leaving them with games in hand as they look to climb the standings. Papama’s goals and leadership will be key as the club continues its campaign.
