GNFS promotes fire safety awareness through inter-schools quiz

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has organised an inter-schools fire safety quiz competition in the Ga North Municipality as part of efforts to promote fire prevention, emergency preparedness and safety awareness among pupils.

The 2026 Inter-Schools Fire Safety Quiz Competition was organised by the Public Relations Team of the Amamorley Fire Station, led by ADO I Bismark Afful.

Ten basic schools, comprising five public and five private schools, participated in the preliminary stage of the competition held from September 28 to 30, 2026.

California Stars School Complex emerged with the highest score in the preliminary stage, earning an automatic qualification to the grand finale.

BAMS International School and Ayawaso M/A Cluster School also secured their places in the final after winning their respective semi-final contests.

The three schools will compete for honours at the grand finale, with the date and venue yet to be announced.

The GNFS said the initiative is aimed at equipping pupils with essential fire safety knowledge while encouraging fire prevention and preparedness from an early age.

The competition has also strengthened collaboration between the Fire Service and schools in the municipality, while providing pupils with practical knowledge on safety and emergency response.
