Man City’s Rayan Ait-Nouri emerged on Manchester United’s radar on transfer deadline day.
Although Manchester United haven’t completed any deals on transfer deadline day, the Reds have at least been active in the market.
Many United fans were hopeful of a new left-back on transfer deadline day. Not only to provide cover for Luke Shaw, but also to push the experienced defender for a starting place in the team.
United’s primary target, Lewis Hall, will remain at Newcastle, but that has led to other left-backs like Alejandro Balde being linked with late moves to Old Trafford.

News is emerging in the final hours about United’s movements on transfer deadline day.
According to Ben Jacobs, citing talkSPORT, United made a deadline-day enquiry for Man City left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri.
The reporter adds that it is unclear whether talks will progress this evening as the clock approaches the 11pm deadline.
While City believe a deal is ‘unlikely’, it’s worth noting that it helps, with the time left to strike a deal, that the player is already based in Manchester.
Ait-Nouri hadn’t been linked with a move to United all summer, so it’s interesting that the reports have come out now – with time running out.
Perhaps it’s a sign United are desperately trying to find cover – at a good price – to bolster Michael Carrick’s options at left-back.
Ait-Nouri made 28 appearances for City in Pep Guardiola’s final season as head coach.
The Algerian defender has made a total of 31 appearances for the club, but he is not considered a starter under Enzo Maresca.
It remains to be seen how serious United are about signing Ait-Nouri, and whether City would entertain an offer from the Reds, knowing we are in dire need of reinforcements at left-back.
