The Action Peoples Party (APP) has received a boost ahead of the 2027 general elections with the defection of two serving members of the House of Representatives and a former federal lawmaker.
The three lawmakers have joined the party and emerged as its candidates for the 2027 House of Representatives elections in their respective constituencies in Imo, Abia and Rivers States.
They are Rt. Hon. Boma Goodhead, member representing Akuku-Toru/Asari-Toru Federal Constituency of Rivers State; Hon. Alozie Munachim Ikechi, member representing Obingwa/Ugwunagbo/Osisioma Federal Constituency of Abia State; and Rt. Hon. Uju Kingsley Chima, a former member representing Oguta/Ohaji-Egbema/Oru West Federal Constituency of Imo State.
Goodhead will contest the 2027 House of Representatives election on the APP platform, while Ikechi has emerged as the party’s candidate for Obingwa/Ugwunagbo/Osisioma Federal Constituency.
Chima, who previously represented Oguta/Ohaji-Egbema/Oru West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has also joined the APP and emerged as the party’s candidate for the constituency.
The entry of the three lawmakers marks a significant development for the APP as the party continues to expand its political base and attract experienced political leaders ahead of the 2027 elections.
With its growing presence across the South-East and South-South, the defection of the serving and former federal lawmakers further underscores the APP’s ambition to establish itself as a formidable political alternative in the 2027 electoral contest.
