Tanzania seeks private sector’s investment to advance its air transport system

**KILIMANJARO: **THE Deputy Minister for Transport David Kihenzile has urged the private sector to increase investment in air transport to improve services, enhance competition and drive national economic growth.

Kihenzile made the call while inspecting ongoing improvement projects at Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA), including the Uhuru VIP Lounge, part of which has been completed and is already operational.

He commended the Tanzania Airports Authority (TAA) for continuing to oversee the implementation of development projects at airports across the country, saying investment in air transport infrastructure is essential for improving services and increasing efficiency in the sector.

For her part, KIA Director Engineer Rehema Myeya thanked the government for continuing to allocate funds for improvements at KIA and other airports across the country, saying the investment is helping ensure that passengers receive services that meet the required standards.

“This government investment has brought significant improvements to the airport’s infrastructure and services. We continue to see positive results that are increasing KIA’s efficiency and improving services for travellers,” Engineer Myeya said.
