Woman demands fair share of properties after 18 years of relationship with father of her three children

Afia Birago of Oyoko has appealed to her former partner, Richard Agya Sei, to give her a fair share of the property they acquired during their 18-year relationship.

The couple, who have three children together, have gone their separate ways following disagreements over debts, domestic issues, and their jointly built house.

Afia, who initiated the separation, said her partner’s persistent debts made life unbearable after they completed their house.

“We built a house together, but his attitude changed afterwards. Every day, people came to collect money he owed. I couldn’t stand it anymore. One mallam even called me from Accra and warned me to be careful because my husband’s debts could land us in trouble. That was when I left with the children to my mother’s house,” she narrated.

Although Richard has allocated one room to her in their three-bedroom house, Afia believes it is inadequate, especially after learning that he intends to marry another woman despite never marrying her during their 18 years together.

Connecting on Obra Show, hosted by Ohemaa Benewaa, Richard also shared his side of the story, accusing Afia of neglecting her marital responsibilities during their relationship.

“My wife would not communicate with me, denied me sex, refused to wash my clothes, and sometimes would not eat the food she prepared for me and the children.

She put me through hell, so I travelled for some time to heal and put things together,” he lamented.

Richard added that when he returned, Afia had left the house. He said he had sent elders to plead with her to return, but their efforts proved unsuccessful.

He further disclosed that he had given her one of the rooms in the house, which she had since rented out, questioning what more she expected from him.

Efforts by the Obra team to reconcile the former couple proved unsuccessful, as Richard is reportedly preparing to marry another woman this month, while Afia has also moved on to a new relationship.

However, following mediation by the Obra team, Richard agreed to provide Afia with an additional room in an attempt to resolve the dispute and promote peace
