MCP Plots Enquiry Walkout as Foul Play Evidence Mounts

Witnesses before the Chikangawa plane crash inquiry have exposed foul play in the death of Vice President Saulos Chilima and 8 others, forcing MCP members on the committee to plot a walkout.

1. Duma saw Chilima begging for help. Star witness Ephraim Duma testified that on June 10, 2024, he saw the MDF Dornier flying abnormally low, with the late Saulos Chilima standing on the door begging for help while being pulled back into the plane. He added he followed the plane to the crash site where two survivors emerged before over 10 armed men – including foreigners in uniform and overalls – appeared, chased them and opened fire. One companion was killed. Duma said he survived three bullets to the back through traditional charms. Discover Munthali, another witness defended Duma describing him as a sound businessman who had no reason to lie.
2. Gunshots testimony. Flora Mkandawire of Nthungwa corroborated Duma. She said two men in camouflage ordered her out of the forest, then she heard three distinct gunshots after the crash. Worse still, Her children were arrested just because she reported the issue to police forcing her to recant.
3. Debris of the wreckage. On Monday, 2 November, Samuel Lwala tabled aircraft debris before the committee. He testified the debris was taken to a foreign lab which confirmed an explosion – not a weather crash – suggesting gunshots and bombs.
4. Then Raiply Public Relations Officer, Dalitso Phiri added: on June 11, their team found the site already cordoned off by security.
5. MDF staff discussion. A Mzuzu journalist testified he overheard senior MDF officials hailing the operation as “successful” while discussing how to time Chakwera’s address to buy time for public acceptance.
6. Surrender photo. Dziwani Jassi another blow. Linked to MCP operatives, he testified he saw a photo of Chilima kneeling, arms up in surrender before MCP hitmen. He named MPS operatives Pangeti, Nkhata and others as connected to the foul play.
7. And hitting the last nail on Wednesday, November 4, a KCH clinical officer, Andrew Master Mwale, who handled the bodies has revealed another tearful tale of his experience which points to government sponsored assassination saying Lapuken was the epicenter of an explosion.

As evidence mounts, the Malawi Congress Party is plotting a boycott by among others forcing the party members on the Ad-Hoc Committee to walk out in order to discredit the inquiry from outside the committee.
