Man City Face Injury Worry: Latest Haaland Update and Bad News for Antoine Semenyo

Manchester City’s impressive Premier League run has brought plenty of excitement for their supporters, but injury concerns are now creating uncertainty ahead of their next important match.

The team secured a 3–2 victory over Ipswich Town on October 17, 2026. However, the result came with concerns about the fitness of two attacking players: Erling Haaland and Ghana international Antoine Semenyo.

With City preparing for another European fixture, supporters will be watching closely for further updates.

Haaland Scores Twice but Raises Injury Concerns

Haaland played a decisive role in City’s win against Ipswich, scoring twice to help his team secure all three points.

According to “Reuters’ match report” (https://www.reuters.com/sports/soccer/citys-flying-start-comes-cost-with-haaland-limping-off-2026-10-17/), the Norwegian striker reached 100 non-penalty Premier League goals in a record 139 appearances.

Despite his excellent performance, Haaland appeared to be limping after the final whistle and headed towards the tunnel.

The incident immediately raised questions about whether he would be available for City’s upcoming Champions League match against AEK Athens.

On October 19, Reuters reported that manager Enzo Maresca remained hopeful Haaland could play, although his condition would need to be assessed following training.

For City, keeping their leading striker fit is important as the club attempts to maintain its strong domestic form while recovering from a European defeat.

Semenyo’s situation has added another concern for City and Ghanaian football supporters.

Reuters reported on October 19 that the forward could be sidelined for up to eight weeks after suffering a knee injury during the Ipswich match.

The report said medical checks brought some relief because the injury was not as serious as initially feared. Nevertheless, the expected recovery period could keep him out of several important fixtures.

Semenyo has become a player many Ghanaian supporters follow closely because of his contributions at club level and his involvement with the national team.

His absence would also reduce City’s attacking options at a time when Haaland’s availability remains uncertain.

Can Manchester City Maintain Their Winning Form?

City’s 3–2 victory over Ipswich extended their winning start in the Premier League to seven matches, according to the club’s “official match report” (https://www.mancity.com/news/mens/man-city-ipswich-premier-league-match-report-october-2026-63927840).

The result demonstrated their ability to find goals even when opponents put them under pressure. However, a demanding schedule can make squad depth and player fitness just as important as performances on the pitch.

If Haaland is unavailable, City may need to adjust their attacking approach. Semenyo’s expected absence could make that challenge more difficult by limiting the manager’s choices.

These are potential challenges rather than a prediction that City’s form will collapse. The team has other attacking players who could step forward if needed.

Manchester City’s next Champions League fixture against AEK Athens is scheduled for October 20. Haaland’s participation depends on his fitness assessment, so supporters should check the club’s official updates for confirmation.

For Ghanaian fans, Semenyo’s recovery will also be worth following. His return will depend on how well he responds to treatment and rehabilitation.

The latest developments leave City supporters with two important questions: Will Haaland be fit for the next match, and how will the team cope without Semenyo?

The answers could influence City’s short-term plans, although the club’s longer-term ambitions will depend on results, squad fitness and performances throughout the season.
