Black Maidens turn attention to Togo after Nigeria defeatGhanas Black Maidens will shift their attention to Togo as they look to bounce back from their 42 defeat to Nigeria at the 2026 WAFU-B U17 Girls Cup.The Black Maidens suffered their first defeat of the competition on Friday after a difficult encounter with the Flamingos at the Lyce Scientifique in Yamoussoukro, Cte dIvoire.Nigeria raced into a commanding lead through Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, Precious Oscar and Harmony Chidi before Ghana responded strongly in the second half.Captain Seidatu Wahab reduced the deficit with a spectacular free-kick in the 62nd minute, while Gloria A. Ameaa added a second to give the Black Maidens hope of completing a comeback.However, Harmony Chidi struck again in the 90th minute to secure Nigerias 42 victory, despite the Flamingos having been reduced to 10 players.The result means Ghana must now regroup quickly ahead of their next Group B fixture against Togo on Monday, September 21.The Black Maidens will face the Togolese at the Lyce Scientifique, with kick-off scheduled for 6:00pm.Ghana made a strong start to the tournament, recording a 40 victory over Burkina Faso in their opening game.That result provided the Black Maidens with an ideal start, but the defeat to Nigeria has increased the importance of their remaining group matches as they seek to strengthen their position in the competition.The clash against Togo will therefore offer Ghana an opportunity to return to winning ways and build momentum before they face Niger and Cote d'Ivoire.
