The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) says it has made significant progress in restoring power to parts of Masvingo Province hit by a severe hailstorm on Monday, 5 October.
The storm caused extensive damage to the power utility’s network, bringing down numerous poles, power lines and transformers.
In an update on Saturday, 10 October, ZETDC said power had been restored to Bushmead Water Works, GZ Hydro, 4 Brigade, 4.1 Infantry Battalion, Ndanga Hospital and Masvingo Provincial Hospital.
It said supply is also back in Masvingo’s industrial area, downtown and the Civic Centre, as well as at Victoria High School, Mbungo Estates, Mashava, and along the Kyle Primary, Kyle and Standard Farm 11kV feeders.
“We assure all clients in the outstanding areas that our teams are working tirelessly to complete repairs in the shortest possible time,” the company said.
“Customers are urged to continue to treat all electrical lines, poles, and equipment as live and dangerous at all times. We thank you for your continued patience.”
