Sara Netanyahu, wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is facing a lawsuit from a former employee who alleges she subjected him to verbal abuse, degrading treatment and an ethnic slur.
Rami Ben Hamo, who worked at the prime minister’s office and residence for more than a decade, is seeking about £112,000 in damages, alleging that Sara Netanyahu called him an “undeveloped Moroccan” and subjected him to unreasonable demands and unlawful working hours.
According to the lawsuit, the alleged remark was part of a broader pattern of “harsh attacks, insults and degradation” when Ben Hamo failed to follow her instructions.
He also alleges that he was required to perform humiliating tasks, including cleaning the soles of Sara Netanyahu’s shoes with wet wipes.
Ben Hamo claims the treatment continued after he underwent a cardiac procedure and that he was subjected to excessive working hours.
The prime minister’s office rejected the allegations, describing them as “fake news” and part of what it called a “witch-hunt” targeting Netanyahu, his wife and their family, particularly during election campaigns.
The lawsuit is the latest in a series of legal claims brought by former employees of the Netanyahu household.
Last month, former residence worker Yehiel Ohev-Ami sued Sara Netanyahu for more than £74,000, alleging verbal and physical abuse during his employment in cooking and cleaning.
Ohev-Ami alleged that he was instructed to clean the soles of the Netanyahus’ shoes every day and ensure that his hand did not accidentally enter the shoes.
He also claimed that minor mistakes could lead to shouting and swearing.
According to his lawsuit, Sara Netanyahu shoved him against a wall on three occasions and made insulting comments about his intelligence and health. He further alleged that she told him she hoped he would develop cancer and die after returning from a smoking break.
Ohev-Ami also alleged that Benjamin Netanyahu “diagnosed” him with autism and demanded payment for the alleged diagnosis.
The prime minister’s office rejected those allegations as well, saying Ohev-Ami had failed to perform his duties after working at the residence for a relatively short period.
Three other former employees have also filed cases against Sara Netanyahu, with the allegations denied.
The claims remain allegations and have not been established by a court.
