Niger Tornadoes goalkeeper Derrick Julu earns Liberian national team invitation for AFCON 2027 qualifiers

Niger Tornadoes goalkeeper Derrick Daddy Julu has earned an invitation to the Liberia senior national team ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Cape Verde scheduled for November 2026.

The invitation, communicated through an official letter from the Liberia Football Association, will see the shot-stopper join the Lone Star for two crucial qualifying fixtures, with the first leg scheduled for 13 November 2026 in Praia, Cape Verde, before the return fixture in Monrovia, Liberia, on 17 November 2026.

Julu’s national team call-up comes on the back of an outstanding October performance for the Ikon Allah Boys, during which he recorded an impressive three clean sheets in four matches, conceding just one goal.

The Liberian international has continued to demonstrate remarkable composure, consistency and impressive goalkeeping qualities between the sticks, playing a significant role in Niger Tornadoes’ recent impressive run of results in the Nigeria Premier Football League.

Niger Tornadoes FC congratulates Derrick Daddy Julu on his well-deserved national team invitation, a recognition of his impressive performances and dedication, while wishing him and the Liberia national team success in their upcoming qualifying fixtures
