A 33-year-old traditional ruler based in Accra, Nene Alipue Narh Amartey, has been arraigned before the Ada Circuit Court for allegedly threatening to kill an Ada-based businessman, Zebulon Okudzeto.
Nene Alipue Narh Amartey has been charged with a threat to cause murder. The prosecutor, Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Amegaxie, told the court that at about 9am on March 21, 2026, the accused person, Nene Amartey, visited a parcel of land being litigated by the two parties at Adokope-Kowadinase in Ada.
He said Eric Agbo, who shared a boundary with the complainant, saw the accused person and a group of men on the litigated land and subsequently approached them to know who hired them to work on the land.
The prosecution said the accused person claimed ownership of the land and sent information through Eric Agbo to the complainant that he would kill and bury him anytime he showed up on the said land at Adokope-Kowadinase in Ada.
The prosecution indicated that the complainant, who was alarmed by the threat, reported the matter to the Kasseh Police Station and, after investigation, the police arrested and charged the accused person with the offence.
However, the counsel for the accused person, Barima Badu Annor-Wusu, prayed the court to grant the accused person bail, explaining that his client is a senior immigration officer with the Ghana Immigration Service and has no previous criminal record.
The court, presided over by Her Honour Catherine Obiri Addo, granted the prayer of the defence counsel and subsequently granted the accused person bail of GH¢50,000 and adjourned the case to November 11th, 2026.
