KDF Recruitment Dates and Application Process: What Kenyan Job Seekers Should Know

Many young Kenyans are waiting for the next Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) recruitment exercise, hoping to secure an opportunity to serve their country. However, applicants need to confirm the official recruitment dates before preparing to attend selection centres.

The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that KDF recruitment dates depend on the requirements and timelines set by the ministry. The previous nationwide recruitment exercise took place in October 2025, with different application procedures for various categories of candidates.

During the previous intake, General Service Officer cadets, specialist officers and tradesmen or women applied online through the designated recruitment portal. General duty recruits attended recruitment centres announced by the military.

As of October 25, 2026, the latest available report states that KDF recruitment is not currently underway. Applicants should therefore avoid relying on social media posts announcing unconfirmed dates or promising guaranteed employment.

Interested Kenyans are encouraged to check the official Ministry of Defence website regularly for announcements about future recruitment opportunities.

Applicants should also prepare their national identity cards, academic certificates and other documents required for their chosen category.

Importantly, KDF recruitment is free. Anyone demanding money to secure a recruitment slot should be treated with suspicion.

By following official announcements and preparing in advance, eligible Kenyans can avoid recruitment scams and be ready when the next genuine opportunity is announced.
