The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of PalmPay Nigeria Limited, Chika Nwosu, has expressed appreciation to LEADERSHIP Group for nominating the fintech company for the Fintech Company of the Year award, describing the recognition as an acknowledgement of the confidence of its customers and stakeholders.
Nwosu spoke when the Vice Chairman of LEADERSHIP Group, Mike Okpere, and the Group Executive Director, Abraham Nda Isaiah, presented the award nomination letter to him at PalmPay’s headquarters in Lagos.
While expressing his appreciation for the recognition, Nwosu said the nomination was particularly significant because of the role customers had played in the company’s growth.
He said, “PalmPay is very happy to receive this award, and this award is actually not just for us; it’s for our customers all over Nigeria because it is because of them that we are here.”
Nwosu said PalmPay currently serves about 40 million users and one million merchants across the country, while its platform processes more than 15 million transactions daily.
According to him, the company has also established physical offices across all 36 states of the federation, including state capitals and major cities, with more than 600 Nigerian employees currently in its workforce.
He said the scale of the company’s operations reflected its efforts to expand access to digital financial services across different segments of the Nigerian population.
“We have been able to make access to financial services very easy in the whole lot of Nigeria. Even a wheelbarrow pusher can hold a bank account,” he said.
Nwosu added that PalmPay would continue to focus on providing accessible and affordable financial services, noting that its transaction success rate currently stands at 99.98 per cent.
He said the company’s services had gone beyond payments, with additional financial products designed to make transactions and other financial activities easier for users.
“So, it’s not just payment; we make life very easy for Nigerians,” Nwosu said.
He further assured customers and stakeholders that PalmPay would continue to improve its services, stressing that the recognition would serve as an encouragement for the company to do more.
Consequently, he thanked LEADERSHIP Group for the nomination and acknowledged the contribution of customers and other stakeholders to the rapid fintech platform development in Nigeria.
