MPUNDU PETITIONS KASAMA CENTRAL ELECTION RESULTS
Former Kasama Central Parliamentary candidate Bernard Mpundu has confirmed that he has officially filed an election petition challenging the results of the August 13, 2026 polls.
In a statement, Mr. Mpundu who is also former Northern Province Permanent Secretary said the decision followed concerns raised by members of the public regarding alleged irregularities during the election.
He said the petition was filed within the legally stipulated timeframe and that further details would be communicated through the appropriate channels.
Mr. Mpundu stressed that his decision to petition the results was not an act of hostility, but a lawful pursuit of truth, accountability and justice.
He has since called for calm, stating that he remains committed to allowing the courts and other established legal processes to handle the matter.
Kasama Central was won by Elasmus Chomba of the NRPUP, according to results announced by the Electoral Commission of Zambia.
This is according to a statement issued on Mr.Mpundu’s official Facebook page as monitored by Kasama Radio News this afternoon.
