A four-story residential building collapsed on Al-Mu’assasa Street in the Ezbet Shaheen district of Minya city on Friday, triggering a major multi-agency search and rescue operation as casualties were reported, local officials confirmed.
The operational headquarters of the Minya Local Unit raised the alarm following the structural failure, prompting security authorities led by Minya Security Director Major General Ahmed Izzat to immediately deploy civil defense forces, heavy machinery, and fleet ambulances to the scene.
Emergency teams established a security cordon around the perimeter to protect bystanders while heavy equipment cleared debris in a bid to reach survivors. Rescue workers continue to search through the rubble for trapped residents and victims.
Formal legal proceedings have been filed, and investigations into the cause of the collapse are ongoing.
