“God’s plan will determine my next move” – Omisore

Former Osun State Deputy Governor Iyiola Omisore says his future endeavours will be guided entirely by God’s plan.

Omisore made the remark on Tuesday in Osogbo during a gathering organised by his allies to mark his 69th birthday.

“I give all the glory to Almighty God for keeping me alive to witness today. What you should expect next depends on God’s plan for me. Whatever He wants me to do, I will do,” Omisore said.

Speaking at the event, one of his key associates, Hon Ajibola Famurewa, explained that friends and political allies organised the modest event to honour Omisore, adding that a major celebration is being planned for his 70th milestone.

Famurewa also addressed the All Progressives Congress (APC) defeat in the August 15 governorship election, attributing the loss to poor leadership and systemic failures within the state chapter.

“Personally, that was an election we were supposed to win, not lose. Unfortunately, the type of leadership we had in the party, coupled with several other factors, was responsible for our defeat. I think we need to look back and critically examine what went wrong,” Famurewa said.

He called for an immediate overhaul of the party structure to restore confidence among members.

“We need to change the leadership of this party, without mincing words. We must restructure the APC and address internal systems to give every member a true sense of belonging. Election day is like a war, and members will only commit fully if they know they have a genuine stake in the outcome.”

Famurewa criticised the current executive setup for fostering division through favouritism and imposition.

“We need a leadership that carries everyone along, not one that selects a few individuals to form a cabal. We must allow elected party executives to function properly,” he added.

He further revealed that party leaders failed to act on the recommendations of an internal review committee headed by former Minister of Health, Prof Isaac Adewole.

“We need to get to the root of the issue,” Famurewa added. “Let us install leaders with the charisma to unite members and the strategic expertise to plan and win elections. Only then will we see positive results,” Famurewa said.
